College has been a lot different than I expected. I have so much more free time than I thought I would and I don’t have anywhere near the amount of homework I thought I would. Everyone kept telling me that I would have so much homework and reading that I would hardly have any time for myself. Maybe it was just the classes I took, but I ended up getting a job to fill in my plethora of free time. I have a feeling that this semester I will probably end up with more to do as far as classes go, but I still don’t think it will as overwhelming as I previously imagined.
Another aspect of college that is different than I expected is how easy the transition from high school to college was. Also how leaving home was not as bad as I imagined. The first day was hard just because I felt like I was being thrown into this whole new situation, but after that, I just got used to being on my own and loving the new freedom. Even though college comes with a lot more responsibility, it is completely worth taking on to have the opportunity to be out on my own.
You are so lucky. I wish I had extra time but my situation is totally different from yours. Perhaps taking on my classes or activities could fill your time and give you more experience in the college world. Good luck till next time.. Zanya

I know exactly what you mean. Everything was screened by this wall of myth if you want to call it that, that everything was going to be so much different and harder to do. I think thats how schools recruit now though, just to see who really wants a good education. I don’t really want to take the initiative to get a job though, mostly because I like having my free time without any other worries. I respect anyone who works and goes to school at the same time, because right now I can’t do it, its tough.
